Why should I choose Bay Area Sitters? Our sitters all work/study in childcare or healthcare. Bay Area Sitters extensive selection process includes:

  • TrustLine Registered (has access to fingerprint records at the DOJ,  the Dept of Social Services and the FBI)
  • LiveScan Fingerprinting
  • State & Federal Criminal background check
  • CACI (Child Abuse Central Index) check
  • Recent reference checks
  • In Person interview

Additionally, we also require that our sitters are CPR certified, hold clean driving licenses and have at least 5 years of childcare experience.

How do I pay for babysitting services?

Bay Area Sitters will take your credit card details over the phone and will run your charge safely and securely through our Intuit payment system. You will receive an email confirming your total bill after your Sitter has notified us of the total hours worked.

Is a gratuity customary?

Gratuities are customary in the Bay Area and certainly appreciated by our babysitters. However, there is no obligation. Please tip the Sitter directly, in cash and at your discretion.

Can I meet the babysitter beforehand?

One of the great advantages of using Bay Area Sitters is that all the hard work has been done for you. We first screen via phone, then we meet in person, then we verify a current CPR certification and also contact TrustLine to make sure they are registered and checked (If they are not we require them to go through the TrustLine registration before they are hired). We also contact recent references and call parents/employers where the Sitters have cared for children. We have done the hard work so you don’t have to! However, once your sitter is booked, please feel free to contact them with any questions you have. It is very important to us that you feel comfortable. Your sitter will also reach out to you, at least one day prior to your booking date, in order to get acquainted.

Do you provide wedding/event care?

Yes! Our sitters would love to entertain and care for groups of children while at an event, giving you the peace of mind to really have a great time knowing your children are being taken care of only steps away!
